Phil Heath is not going to compete in the 2011 Arnold Classic

Phil Heath has decided to skip major competitions before. But none of those decisions was tougher than his most recent: to sit out the 2011 Arnold Classic to focus solely on being his best ever at the 2011 Olympia.

“It was a very hard decision for me to make because not doing the Arnold is kind of like an opportunity missed,” Heath said. “After placing second there two years in a row, that still stings a little bit because I feel like I can win the contest this year. But at what cost would that be? After placing second at the Olympia I feel like I’ve solidified my position as one of the top two bodybuilders in the world.

Jay Cutler afraid to go to Sweden

Current (and four-time) Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler recently cancelled his scheduled guest posing  in Sweden. This follows shortly after fellow IFBB professional Toney Freeman was taken into police custody on Thursday, and confirmed to have been using on steroids (and recently having used marijuana) at the time of his arrest. Freeman publicly warned Cutler to keep his butt out of Sweden, and Cutler quickly opted to follow his advice.

In Sweden, the law allows the police to test people for drugs on suspicion of use. Although this practice has been criticized on various message boards, here in the United States we allow people to be tested for alcohol and/or drugs if they’re suspected of being under their influence while operating a motor vehicle. In Sweden, it’s allowed under any suspicion, not just during the operation of a vehicle, and they’ve made it clear that they’ll be arresting professional bodybuilders who show up with obviously chemical- enhanced physiques.

Hence, once Cutler found this out, he cancelled his appearance, leaving little doubt as to his steroid use, in the minds of many fans…not that anyone doubted it before.

Separate Bodybuilding From Fitness, Figure & Bikini

by Joe Pietaro

With the announcement that the bikini division will be a mainstay at Olympia Weekend, it is time to separate the classes right down the middle. Bodybuilding shows should be just that and both the men and women’s finals should be held together the same night. The prior evening can be for the fans of the newer – and less hardcore – divisions such as fitness, figure and bikini.

Listen – I personally have no problem whatsoever looking at women barely dressed cavorting on a stage and not feeling guilty about it, but for the sake of the sports world, bodybuilding differs greatly from the other three. As a man, staring intently at someone like Heather Mae French and calling it work is a great thing. But when I put on my sportswriter’s hat, it just doesn’t cut the mustard.

Interviewing Dennis Wolf or Iris Kyle is the other end of the spectrum. No knock against the smaller, svelte figures out there, but it’s similar to comparing an offensive lineman and a tennis player. Both are professional athletes, but prepare for their jobs completely different.

Freeman arranges some meetings with his funs, one of them was held in Sundsvall shop. But interesting discus was interrupt by police that took Toney Freeman to police station. The police group planned the raid and took the help of the ads to locate the X-man. They were conducted by Henry Blusi.

Being asked why police interrupt Toney’s Freeman event, Henry Blusi answered that they just knew that professional bodybuilder will be in Sundsvall shop for some hours, after that he would have gone further.

The X-Man was calm during the arrest and he was surprised thinking that this is joke. By getting the police office he has to pass urine drug test, which was positive.

Canadian study finds Botox atrophies muscles far from injection site.

Dr. Walter Herzog, holds a bottle of Botox in his lab at the University of Calgary on Thursday, December 2, 2010. Herzog has completed new research that shows that over time botulinum toxin A use results in muscle weakness, atrophy and loss of contractile tissue in non-injected muscles far-removed from the injection site.
CALGARY — Botox may be used to help smooth out wrinkles and give children with cerebral palsy more control over their muscles, but the injections themselves could be responsible for causing muscle weakness throughout the body, according to researchers at the University of Calgary.

A study soon to be published in the Journal of Biomechanics found that six months after rabbits had been given botulinum toxin A, they experienced muscle loss and atrophy.

And these side-effects weren’t limited to where the Botox was injected, said Rafael Fortuna, a kinesiology master’s degree student and lead author of the paper.

“Botox doesn’t seem to stay at a very specific site. It can affect muscles far away from an injection site,” said Fortuna.
